T’puram: A Rajasthan-registered truck carrying electrical cables overturned while attempting to negotiate a steep stretch at Pirappancode–Ambalammukku ring road shortly after Friday midnight, causing extensive damage to a nearby house and vehicles.The impact threw the cable bundles—reportedly wound on large wooden spool wheels—off the vehicle. The heavy reels struck the house owned by Purushottaman Pillai, leading to the collapse of the front portion and a section of the wall. A car and a motorcycle parked on the premises were also damaged. Pillai’s wife, Shushila Amma, who was inside the house at the time, escaped without injury.The driver, Dileep (27), who sustained injuries is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Police sources said the brakes may have failed while Dileep attempted to take the truck up the steep stretch. A fireforce team from Venjaramoodu reached the spot, and cleared the spilled cables and restored traffic in the area.Venjaramoodu police registered a case and began a probe. TNN
