COIMBATORE: The Race Course police in the city have arrested a truck driver and a parcel service manager in connection with the electrocution of a 38-year-old man near Siddhapudur here on Wednesday.The deceased has been identified as S Sudhakaran, 38, of Pappanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore. He was engaged in decoration work. Sudhakaran was electrocuted on Wednesday morning when he touched a parked goods autorickshaw on the roadside. During police investigations, it was revealed that a private parcel service truck had entered Dhanalakshmi Nagar in New Siddhapudur. The truck rammed an electric pole, damaging it and causing a high-tension power cable to snap and fall on the parked goods autorickshaw. Sudhakaran, who was walking in the area, accidentally touched the goods autorickshaw and was electrocuted.Police arrested truck driver S Vijaya Kumar, 30, of Melur in Madurai district and parcel service manager G Manikandan, 33, of Thammampatti in Salem district for their alleged negligence. Both were remanded in judicial custody.
