Agartala: Tripura govt signed MoUs worth about Rs 2,240 crore at the Destination Tripura Business Conclave to build a sustainable transport ecosystem focused on electric mobility and civil aviation, transport minister Sushanta Chowdhury said.Planned investments cover EV manufacturing, battery production, charging infrastructure, EV fleet deployment, mobility services and workforce training, along with aviation services, pilot training academies, improved connectivity and seaplane operations. The state aims to reduce fossil-fuel dependence and develop a cleaner public transport system, positioning Tripura as a hub for clean mobility while creating opportunities in tourism and logistics.Unlike fragmented EV initiatives elsewhere, the proposals target an integrated ecosystem spanning batteries, vehicles, charging networks, electrified public transport, services and skill development. Key EV proposals include Rs 200 crore from a global firm for EV manufacturing and charging infrastructure and another Rs 200 crore for EV-as-a-Service to expand adoption without requiring full vehicle purchases.The state also plans to introduce 1,000 electric buses backed by a Rs 120 crore MoU, expected to strengthen public transport and cut emissions. A Rs 100 crore proposal for EV battery manufacturing is intended to build local supply chains. In aviation, Jet Serve Aviation Pvt Ltd signed an MoU worth Rs 1,500 crore to upgrade the sector and connectivity.P S Hindustan Tourism and Infrastructure proposed Rs 120 crore for regional aviation, tourism and emergency mobility. Wing Tech Institute pledged Rs 150 crore for an aviation training institute, while Rampworks Aviation proposed ₹100 crore for seaplane operations and another training facility. The state will set timelines to finalise proposals.
