Agartala: Tripura CM Manik Saha has raised concerns over the alleged disappearance of key documents related to murder cases registered during the tenure of the previous Left Front govt.Saha said vital records appeared to be missing from custody, prompting questions about the status of investigations into unresolved cases and accountability for past political violence in the state. The chief minister made the remarks while attacking the opposition, particularly Left Front and Congress. He accused them of seeking public sympathy by raising questions about the law-and-order situation under the current govt while ignoring incidents that occurred during their tenure.Saha referred to the history of murders and violence in Tripura and questioned whether the opposition could distance itself from serious criminal cases registered during its time in power. If the disappearance of the files is confirmed, it could raise concerns over the preservation of evidence, the progress of investigations and the prospects of justice for victims and their families. The issue is particularly sensitive in view of the murders of two journalists in Tripura months before the 2018 assembly elections. The cases continue to draw public attention and raise questions about the effectiveness of the investigations.Saha also referred to incidents of murder and violence in different parts of the state and said the opposition should examine its own record before criticising the current govt’s handling of law and order.
