Kolkata: ED on Monday questioned Trinamool Rashbehari MLA Debashis Kumar in connection with a land grab case. “I don’t know much about what they are doing. I will not say anything on this,” Kumar said after his questioning at the agency’s CGO Complex office. TMC spokesperson Jayprakash Majumdar, however, alleged political vendetta by BJP.ED began probing the case following searches at the residence of businessman Amit Gangopadhyay, where documents linked to disputed properties were recovered. Sources said some of the documents appeared to be fake and several properties had been sold at unusually high prices. Investigators suspect that some of these properties may belong to the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.Kumar was called to clarify details related to certain properties flagged during the probe. ED officials suspect a nexus involved in constructing buildings on illegally occupied land in Kolkata, allegedly with support from a section of civic officials and workers.
