Yavatmal: Around 550 tribal students have been staging a sit-in outside Yavatmal Zilla Parishad office for six days, pressing for long-pending demands related to teacher recruitment, hostels.Their key demands include filling PESA and non-PESA teacher vacancies through Pavitra Portal and withdrawal of the August 14, 2026, govt resolution on hostels.Tribal development minister Dr Ashok Uike visited the protesters on Sunday and later held a meeting with officials at the district collector’s office. However, no final decision was reached.The students warned of intensifying their agitation if their demands are not accepted.“Our demands have been pending for many days. We will continue our agitation until they are fulfilled,” said tribal student Mahesh Korange.
