Calangute: Heavy monsoon rains led to multiple tree fall incidents across North Goa on Wednesday, damaging houses but leaving no injuries. At Porbawado, Calangute, a large tree uprooted around 9am and crashed onto a house, trapping occupants inside. Fire and Emergency Services personnel cleared debris, allowing residents to exit safely. The roof and compound wall were damaged.In Nerul, a jambul tree fell on a house near a petrol pump around 8am, causing major structural damage. Fire personnel from Pilerne cleared the site, with loss estimates yet to be assessed. Another tree fall at Ramnagar, Betim, on Tuesday afternoon damaged nearby houses.Saligao MLA Kedar Naik visited the Betim site, directing prompt clearance and assuring assistance and compensation for affected residents.
