Ramgarh: A trailer truck ploughed into three cars on NH-33 in Chutupalu valley on Saturday. The passengers of the damaged vehicles, however, escaped with minor injuries, police said.The truck was travelling to West Bengal from Ramgarh. Traffic on the NH-33 remained disrupted for several hours after the collision. “The driver of the truck lost control after the vehicle’s brakes failed,” Naveen Prakash Pandey, the officer-in charge of Ramgarh police station, said.The latest mishap comes amid a series of accidents in the valley. At least five road accidents have been reported in the stretch since July 1, injuring more than 20 people.On Friday, a timber-laden truck plunged into a 20-foot-deep ditch in the valley. The driver and helper were trapped inside the mangled cabin and were rescued by police, NHAI personnel and local villagers.Following the July 1 accident, the Ramgarh deputy commissioner, along with the NHAI team, also visited the valley to review safety measures. NHAI project director Vijay Kumar said a long-term solution was being planned through a new highway alignment, while installation of speed-monitoring systems linked to challan generation was also underway.
