Hyderabad: The inauguration date of the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) at Sanathnagar has been delayed further from March 19 to tentatively June 2 as construction, staff and other gaps persist. The health dept earlier announced the inauguration of the hospital on Ugadi as it aimed to complete pending works after delays in construction and equipment installation.Officials said that the govt was planning all inaugurations and launches of govt projects over a week during the Telangana Formation Day celebrations. “The inauguration of TIMS will be part of 99 day action plan program. All inaugurations are planned in the first week of June, and TIMS is likely to be opened on June 2,” said the official. The project has seen multiple delays due to pending construction works, equipment installation, and staffing arrangements. Around 450 healthcare personnel — including doctors and nurses — will be deployed from other state-run hospitals on a temporary basis after the health facility is opened. The Sanathnagar TIMS is part of the state’s plan to expand super-speciality healthcare and reduce the burden on major hospitals in Hyderabad. Two more TIMS are coming up in Alwal and LB Nagar, aimed at providing multi-speciality services to local communities in northern and eastern Hyderabad, respectively.
