Jamshedpur: Tata Steel Zoological Park has three new stripes to watch out for. The zoo authorities on Wednesday announced the birth of three tiger cubs — two females and a male — to tigress Sunaina, her first litter. The cubs were born on Sept 23, while their father, Rudra, was brought to the zoo from Gorewada Rescue Centre in Nagpur. The announcement was made after the cubs completed the initial period of close monitoring and care under established veterinary protocols. However, the early days were not entirely smooth. Sunaina inadvertently injured one of the female cubs, prompting the zoo’s veterinary team to step in immediately and suture the wounds. The injured cub, weighing around 1.8kg, has shown encouraging signs of recovery. Although she is now considered out of immediate danger, she continues to remain under close veterinary observation. The other two cubs are reported to be doing well. The male weighs around 2.9kg, while the second female weighs around 2.53kg.All three cubs remain under continuous veterinary supervision. Their movements and activities are also being monitored through the zoo’s CCTV surveillance system. Tata Steel said every necessary precaution was being taken to safeguard their health and well-being.And now, Jamshedpur residents have a chance to give the newest members of the zoo their identities. The zoo has invited the public to suggest names for the three cubs, one for each cub.Suggestions can be sent via WhatsApp or message to 9438291637. A panel constituted by the zoo will select the three winning entries. The winners will receive complimentary zoo entry passes and a memento. The last date for sending entries is Oct 19.
