Tiger Shroff had a narrow escape after unidentified assailants allegedly opened fire at his vehicle while he was leaving a football club in Mumbai around 7 pm on Sunday. The incident has sparked concern across the film industry, with several celebrities, including veteran actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha, singer Mika Singh, filmmaker Rahul Dholakia and actor Karan Veer Mehra, expressing their shock over the attack. Meanwhile, police have apprehended three men suspected of firing at the actor’s vehicle in Kota, Rajasthan.Mumbai-based vlogger Salma Shaikh was present at the spot when the firing took place on Sunday night. She had arrived to film Tiger for her blog and had even called out to the actor before he entered his car. Recalling the incident, she told ANI, “As soon as he reached the main road, a boy started firing a gun. At first, everyone thought it was just Diwali firecrackers.”“Then the car stopped, and Tiger was on the floor. He didn’t get a single scratch. However, his driver was struck; a bullet hit his elbow, and one passed right through his palm. They immediately rushed to the police station, and from there, they came to Nanavati Hospital. Everyone else from his family has left since, but the driver — the patient — is still inside,” she added.Another eyewitness, Shah Rukh Shaikh, shared his account of the shooting with PTI. He said he was standing behind the vehicle along with others who had gathered to take pictures of the actor.“At the time of the incident, I was standing behind the car. We were waiting for the car to arrive so we could take pictures. We had no idea what was going to happen. Within a second, two men came and fired four rounds at him, targeting the very seat where he was sitting. They immediately got into their vehicle and fled. One bullet hit his driver, while a fan who was walking alongside the car was shot in the stomach. Tiger Shroff himself drove the car back. The driver had been driving initially, but after he was shot, Tiger Shroff shifted seats inside the car and drove himself to the hospital,” he told the news agency.Singer Mika Singh also reacted to the incident on Monday morning. Taking to Instagram, he shared a selfie video in which he expressed relief that the actor had escaped without serious injuries.“Thank God Tiger escaped. I’d just pray to God he remains safe and healthy like this,” he said.Mika then recalled moving to Mumbai in 2005 and telling people back home in Punjab that the city was the safest place in the world, where people could continue working until 6 am without requiring security. Expressing concern over the shooting, he said the incident was particularly alarming during the ongoing Dandiya season.“What happened with Tiger Shroff has become an example. Especially when people are celebrating the Dandiya season, such a big incident has taken place. So, I appeal to the government with folded hands to please take serious action on this case. It’s happened with Tiger today, it can happen with anyone else tomorrow,” he added.Shatrughan Sinha also expressed his concern over the attack through a post on X on Monday morning. He tagged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Tiger Shroff in his message, highlighting the seriousness of the incident and the injuries suffered by the actor’s driver.“What’s happening???? Yesterday’s shocking, worrying attacks, threats, targeting & firing on most loved star @TIGERSHROFF, worthy son of the most worthy father @bindasbhidu. In fact Tiger was lucky to go unhurt, but his poor driver was injured badly. Honble CM, Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis seem to be extremely concerned on this serious matter.”Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited Tiger Shroff and his family at the actor’s residence following the shooting. Speaking to the media after the meeting, he condemned the attack and confirmed that the actor had sustained minor injuries.“This is a major incident. Five rounds were fired, but fortunately, he was safe. His driver sustained injuries, and the incident is condemnable,” Shinde said.He further revealed that Tiger and his mother were shaken by the incident. “I met with the actor. He has injuries on his left hand caused by gunpowder and shards of glass. Both he and his mother are quite shaken,” the Deputy CM added.Pictures of Shinde’s meeting with the actor surfaced online late on Sunday night. In the photographs, Tiger was seen shirtless, with his right arm bandaged and wounds covered on his chest and right shoulder. According to ANI, Shinde said the actor suffered minor injuries from gunpowder and fragments of automobile glass when the assailants fired at his vehicle. His driver was also injured in the attack.Assuring the actor and his family of the government’s support, Shinde said, “I have assured them that the state government stands with them in the face of the open threats being directed at public figures. No form of threat will be tolerated.”“These attempts to intimidate people will not be tolerated, and we will put an end to this hooliganism,” he added.Shinde also spoke about the spate of shooting incidents reported in Mumbai over the past few years, including the murder of politician Baba Siddique in 2024 and the firing incidents outside Salman Khan’s Bandra residence, Galaxy Apartments, and filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s home.Recalling how Mumbai Police had dismantled the underworld’s operations by 1995, the Deputy Chief Minister said the authorities would work towards preventing such incidents from recurring. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a strong statement condemning the shooting and raising concerns over the safety of people associated with the film industry.“Such acts of violence and intimidation are completely unacceptable, and raise serious concerns about the safety and security of personalities associated with the Indian film industry,” the organisation said.It also pointed to the recent firing incident outside Rohit Shetty’s residence, noting that the recurrence of such attacks was a cause for concern.“It is deeply disturbing that this is the second such incident involving a prominent personality from the film industry, following the earlier firing incident involving renowned filmmaker Mr. Rohit Shetty. The recurrence of such incidents is a matter of grave concern and calls for immediate, decisive and effective action by the concerned authorities,” the statement added.Shots were fired outside Rohit Shetty’s residence in January this year, following which Mumbai Police strengthened security arrangements around his home. Security has now also been increased outside Tiger’s residence, as seen in visuals released by ANI on Monday morning.FWICE has called for a “thorough, impartial, and time-bound investigation” into the attack and urged the Maharashtra government and Mumbai Police to take serious note of the repeated incidents targeting Bollywood personalities.Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police have formed 15 teams to investigate the case, with personnel from the Crime Branch and local police working to identify the accused and establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting.“A total of 15 teams, including dedicated personnel from the Mumbai Crime Branch and local police, have been constituted to investigate the case from all angles and track down the culprits,” a police official told PTI.Tiger’s sister Krishna Shroff and his former girlfriend Disha Patani were also seen visiting the actor at his residence following the incident.
