Chandrapur: A 55-year-old farmer was killed in a suspected tiger attack in a field adjoining a forest at Janakapur village in Nagbhid taluka, bringing the number of people killed in wildlife-related attacks in Chandrapur district this year to 28.The deceased, identified as Ramesh Kashiwara, had gone to his field on Tuesday afternoon to irrigate the crops when a tiger reportedly attacked him. He died on the spot.When Kashiwara did not return home by evening, his family members promptly went to search for him. Later in the night they found his dead body in the field and alerted the Forest Department. Forest officials and staff reached the spot soon after and carried out the inquest formalities before removing the dead body for postmortem.The incident has renewed concerns over the growing human-wildlife conflict in the district, particularly in villages and agricultural fields located close to forest areas. The attack has also triggered fear among residents and farmers in Janakapur and neighbouring areas.
