Dharamshala: The Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) has proposed a budget of Rs 340.7 crore for the financial year 2026-27 in the ongoing budget session of the Tibetan parliament-in-exile.The budget was proposed by Sikyong Penpa Tsering, who holds the finance portfolio of CTA, and was presented on Monday.The 11th budget session of the 17th Tibetan parliament-in-exile is scheduled from March 16 to 30. In his opening remarks, speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel reflected on the “tireless efforts of the 14th Dalai Lama to support Tibetans in exile”.The speaker also acknowledged the continued support of the Union govt and the people of India, as well as numerous countries and international supporters, which has “enabled Tibetans to preserve and promote their unique language, culture, and religious traditions during more than six decades of exile while also strengthening international awareness of the Tibetan cause”.Meanwhile, an Australian delegation participating in the Australia Tibet council’s Tibet solidarity tour visited the parliament-in-exile and met speaker Tenphel and deputy speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang on Tuesday.
