Times News NetworkCOIMBATORE: The Coimbatore city police have detained three Sri Lankan natives, including a woman, for staying in the city without proper documents. They were sent to the Sri Lankan refugee camp in Trichy on Thursday.A few days ago, the Saibaba Colony police received information about four youths involved in a physical altercation near Velandipalayam in the city. Police rushed to the spot and intervened. As their Tamil accent was different, police took them to the station and conducted an investigation. It was revealed that the four youths were Sri Lankan natives.Further inquiries revealed that two of them were staying illegally after their visa expired. Police detained P Sayanthan, 28, and A Jeron, 22, who stayed after their visa had expired. They were transferred to the camp at Trichy on Thursday.In a separate incident, the RS Puram police received information that a Sri Lankan woman was staying illegally near Seeranaickenpalayam in the city. Police rushed to the place and confirmed that the woman came to Coimbatore on a tourist visa in 2018 and had been staying here illegally. Police detained her and sent her to the Trichy refugee camp on Friday.
