Nagpur: A routine dispute over a parked car, minor collision and a vehicle blocking the road escalated into three road rages in 24 hours, leaving three injured in the city. The victims were attacked with sticks, rods, metal bracelet and a brick in Pachpaoli, Ganeshpeth and Gittikhadan police limits. Such confrontations often begin with minor traffic disputes, but turn violent within minutes, said police.In Pachpaoli, 19-year-old Sheikh Armaan Sheikh Nasir Sheikh, who was carrying coal on a scooter, asked a local resident, Vaibhav Khaparde, 35, to move his car to allow passage. Khaparde allegedly hurled abuses and hit him on the nose, before his father, Shridhar, 60, struck his head with a rod, said police.The duo also attacked Aman Abdul Kaleem, 24, a co-worker with Armaan, and smashed his bike with a hammer. Khaparde and his father face charges of voluntarily causing grievous injury, criminal intimidation, mischief and provocation to breach peace, police said.Near Tilak Putla in Ganeshpeth, Pranay Mhaske, 23, was riding his bike to a training session when it collided with a two-wheeler of Nilesh Nahate and Ganesh Mudholkar. An argument soon turned violent, with Nahate and Mudholkar allegedly punching Mhaske and hitting him on the head with a metal kada (bracelet). Mhaske was rushed to Mayo Hospital. Police charged the duo with voluntarily causing hurt and assault.The third incident occurred near a medical store in Gittikhadan, where 43-year-old Ashitosh Tiwari objected to 56-year-old Bhimrao Bopche parking his two-wheeler in the middle of the road while talking on his phone.Bopche allegedly picked up a brick and struck Tiwari on the head and chest. Tiwari was admitted to Mayo Hospital. Bopche has been charged with causing hurt using a dangerous weapon and creating a public nuisance.“It’s often a matter of ego, but citizens don’t realise such incidents can tarnish their records. Police records will carry their names as accused in assault cases. They may also have to bear legal expenses for a considerable period. People should keep these consequences in mind and act responsibly,” a senior police officer said. Police appealed to citizens to remain calm and avoid confrontations, warning that minor disputes can quickly escalate into criminal cases.
