Ganderbal, Oct 4: Three government high schools in Kangan constituency—Boys High School Cherwan, High School Anderwan and Girls High School Waliwar—are set to be upgraded to the Higher Secondary level, with classes expected to commence from the upcoming academic session.
The recommendation for the upgradation has been made by Kangan MLA Mian Mehar Ali.
Following the upgrade, Boys High School Cherwan will be designated as Higher Secondary School Cherwan, while High School Anderwan and Girls High School Waliwar will also offer higher secondary classes.
The move is expected to provide students from the three areas and adjoining villages an opportunity to pursue education beyond Class 10 closer to their homes.
The upgrade will also expand the availability of government institutions offering higher secondary education in the constituency, potentially reducing the need for students to travel to other areas for senior secondary schooling.
Higher secondary classes at the three institutions are expected to begin with the new academic session, subject to the completion of necessary administrative and academic arrangements.
The development marks an expansion of senior secondary education facilities in Kangan constituency and is expected to benefit students seeking continued schooling within their respective areas.
