Coimbatore: The city police on Sunday night arrested three people for possession of drugs and counterfeit currency notes at a house in Kurichi Housing Unit.The arrested trio were identified as Satham Hussain, 28, of Kurichi Housing Unit; Faisal, 38, of Mettur at Podanur; and Hakkim, 51, of Karumbukadai. According to an official source, acting on a tip, a special team led by deputy police commissioner (south) K Karthikeyan conducted a raid at the house of Satham Hussain, 29, who runs a plant nursery. During the search, the team found potent drug pills, methamphetamine, and 184 counterfeit currency notes in the denomination of Rs200. Police seized the contraband and fake currency notes. Preliminary investigation revealed that Sahabudeen, alias Khaja Moideen, of Karumbukadai, was procuring and supplying the counterfeit currency printing machine to the trio. A police officer said further interrogation was under way to uncover a wider network, if any. “We have launched a manhunt to trace and apprehend the prime suspect, Sahabudeen, who is on the run.”
