Bengaluru: A court in Bengaluru sentenced three rowdies to life imprisonment for the murder of an autorickshaw driver over an unreturned loan of Rs 2,000.Venkatesh, Puneet and Nagaraj — rowdies from KP Agrahara area — were found guilty of killing D Nagaraj in March 2016.According to police records, Nagaraj borrowed Rs 2,000 from Venkatesh and tensions rose when Nagaraj failed to repay the amount. On March 20, 2016, the trio intercepted Nagaraj near his Magadi Road house. Armed with lethal weapons, the three hacked the auto driver to death.Nagaraj’s father, Dhanashekhar, witnessed the horrific incident and alerted police. Neighbours too testified in court against the rowdies.The prosecution’s case was bolstered by their cohesive and unwavering statements, proving vital for police to build an airtight case, ultimately clinching their conviction in court.
