Gorakhpur: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday issued a stern warning to those seeking to disturb law and order, asserting that the state govt would take firm action against anyone attempting to challenge the rule of law.Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the Kalyan Mandapam at Basharatpur and launching development projects worth over Rs 130 crore, Yogi said Uttar Pradesh has become “mafia-free” and warned that any attempt to revive criminal networks would be dealt with firmly. “Those who create a threat to public security have only two paths open before them — jail or hell,” he said.The chief minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 170 projects undertaken by the Gorakhpur Development Authority (GDA) and the municipal corporation. He said the state had moved from an era of riots, curfews and lawlessness to one of security and development.Without naming any political party, Yogi accused his rivals of dividing society based on caste, region and language. He described such elements as a “gang of dacoits” that had looted the state whenever given an opportunity and thrived on unrest and disorder.The chief minister also announced that one lakh more youths would receive govt jobs over the next year, adding to the 9.5 lakh appointments already made by the state. He said employment and skill development zones named after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel were being established in every district to link skill training with job opportunities.Referring to welfare initiatives for women, Yogi said 50,000 final-year undergraduate students would receive scooters within the next two months.He also highlighted the state’s mass marriage scheme, under which over five lakh daughters have been married with government assistance of Rs 1 lakh per beneficiary.The chief minister described the newly inaugurated Basharatpur Kalyan Mandapam as a symbol of positive change and public convenience. Built by GDA at a cost of Rs 3.10 crore on 2,593 square metres of land, the two-storey facility can accommodate 300–500 people and is equipped with modern amenities, including halls, guest rooms, kitchen facilities, parking and landscaped lawns.
