This woman spent a night inside the real Conjuring House, the 1736 Rhode Island farmhouse where the Perron family reported horrifying experiences; “No matter where you walked, you didn’t feel alone”

If you ask a horror-movie lover about their favourite film, chances are The Conjuring series would be high on the list. And for a fan of the franchise, getting the chance to spend a night inside the real house that inspired the story would be nothing short of a dream come true. That’s exactly what happened with creator Lux Blair (@bat.wings). One memorable stay involved spending a night inside a nearly 300-year-old farmhouse in Rhode Island, the very house that inspired the horror flick.She took to Instagram to share videos from inside the house, giving her followers a glimpse of her experience. What she encountered there, however, was something she could hardly have imagined and would want to remember ever after getting out of the house.The incidentLux Blair recently revisited the experience of staying inside the famous centuries-old house taking her followers back to the infamous property and sharing memories of staying at what is popularly known as the real Conjuring House. Her post draws attention to paranormal tourism.On one of the slides, she sums up her experience:“Maybe it was history. Maybe it was the stories. Or maybe there was something else in that house that didn’t want me there. Either way, when the morning finally came, I was more than ready to leave.”History of the house

The house is real and is located at 1677 Round Top Road in Harrisville. It’s a village in Burrillville, Rhode Island. The property is historically known as the Old Arnold Estate. The original farmhouse was built in 1736 and stood at the centre of a working farm.Its history stretches back through generations of families, with the estate once covering roughly 200 acres. Today, the surviving farmhouse remains an extraordinary piece of colonial New England architecture, and one of the world’s most famous addresses for horror fans.Perron family paranormal experiences

The property became internationally (in) famous because of the Perron family. They moved into the farmhouse in January 1971. Roger and Carolyn Perron lived there with their five daughters named Andrea, Nancy, Christine, Cindy and April. They lived in the house until 1980. As per the family, they had strange and unexplained experiences inside the house. Over the years, these stories attracted the attention of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Their story eventually inspired the 2013 Hollywood film The Conjuring.In another slide, she explains her experience, “I have read Andrea Perron’s books on her experiences in the house, I’ve read about King Phillip’s war and the soldiers buried on the property, the family burial ground where generations are sitting in the dirt next to the house.”Lux’s experience

Lux, on her Instagram, writes that she was initially very excited to stay inside the house. She writes,“Two years ago, we stayed inside the Conjuring House. I love ghost stories and I was looking forward to having some type of experience to confirm that there is something else out there…”But she had no ‘visibly ghostly’ experience. She writes, “No door slammed, nothing flew at us, no ghosts appeared. But, I never expected a house/land to feel so “sick”. Going into the house in high spirits, we all very quickly felt so off, anxious, and uncomfortable.”However, there was some different feeling inside the house which certainly was not the happy one. Because on the next picture slide, she explains this weird feeling:“The air feels thick. The house was freezing cold when the temperature outside wasn’t. There were foul smells that would come and go. I felt brave walking into this house but after an hour I had no interest in walking anywhere alone, no matter where you walked you didn’t feel alone.”Different from a conventional horror attraction

And that feeling is exactly what makes the Conjuring House different from a conventional haunted attraction. It is not a studio-built haunted mansion designed for Halloween. The farmhouse has seen several families, witnessed generations and remained standing long before the movie turned its story into a global horror franchise.For paranormal enthusiasts, this authenticity has turned the property into something of a bucket-list destination. Since it was opened to visitors in 2019, the house has at different times hosted history tours and overnight experiences.However, for now, the house is not open for public viewing or overnight experience because of some repair works.
