Patna: A house in Manichak village under Masaurhi police station in Patna district was burgled on Sunday night with jewellery, cash and a cellphone worth lakhs of rupees stolen.The theft came to light on Monday morning when house owner Rita Devi returned home and found valuables missing. In her complaint at Masaurhi police station, she said thieves broke into the house, ransacked the rooms and fled with the valuables.The stolen items included a gold mangalsutra, earrings, tika, nose rings and other jewellery, besides a cellphone and around Rs 35,000 in cash. Rita informed police and lodged an FIR against unidentified persons.Masaurhi police station SHO Vivek Bharti said an investigation was underway. “Police teams are working on available clues from the crime scene to trace and arrest the accused and recover the stolen valuables,” he said.Bharti said the house was locked when the theft took place as the family had gone out. “When they returned in the morning, they found the lock of the main door was broken and valuables were missing. We are trying to track the accused with the help of stolen cellphone,” he said.Police are examining clues from the spot and using the stolen cellphone to trace the accused.
