Panchkula: Three men have been arrested for allegedly stealing copper wire from a solar power plant inside the Chandimandir military station.The accused — Raju, Pintu and Sahil alias Rahul alias Kida — are residents of Rajiv Colony in Sector 17. Police seized about 32kg of stolen copper wire and a knife allegedly used in the crime from them.The theft came to light on May 9 after an Army officer lodged a complaint at Chandimandir police station. Outsourced staff at the site spotted the suspects stealing wiring from solar panels around 3am and raised an alarm. Two accused were caught during a chase, while others fled.Following the FIR, police launched a probe under inspector Rampal. During interrogation, the arrested men revealed the names of accomplices, leading to further raids. Nearly 250 metres of copper wire was recovered, police said. Sahil was arrested the next day.ACP Vikram Nehra said the accused were produced in court and remanded to judicial custody. Efforts are on to nab other suspects.
