Over 26,000 security personnel, alongside Delhi Police, clamped down hard on protesters and political leaders in a bid to quell dissent against SIR exercise.

Protest broken up: March towards Connaught Place at around 8am; video coverage by media outlets. Where protesters were detained: Chhatrasal stadium in Model Town, Yamuna Sports Complex in east Delhi, Rajiv Gandhi stadium in Bawana, Narela and Parliament Street police station.
Police detained over 800 people, including former Keralam CM Pinarayi Vijayan, from Jantar Mantar, Sansad Marg, Tolstoy Marg, and Kerala House. Marches were taken out by students near Connaught Place, Palika Bazaar, Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, DDU Marg and other nearby places. Security was deployed all along Mathura Road, Safdarjung flyover, ITO, DDU Marg, Daryanganj, near MCD HQ, Dilli Gate, NDLS, Minto Bridge, CP, India Gate and C hexagon Ashoka Road, kg Marg…etc Tilak Marg, Bharat Mandapam, Janpath, Sansad Marg, Tolstoy Marg, Feroz Shah road, and Le Meridien hotel Circle.

More than 1,000 protesters have taken shelter at the gurudwara, as per management. Protesters tried leaving in the morning but were detained, dragged and waylaid by police. Still, a few protesters, fewer than 50, have managed to stay inside and evade detention. Police have deployed heavy security outside gurudwara gates and urged its management to evict them.

CJP’s Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka were detained.
Multiple police officials from southwest district police were deployed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport since the morning to detain Dipke, Das, Ranka and other CJP leaders or supporters arriving in different flights from different states and cities. Special passes were issued to the officials for their access to the airport premises. The three CJP leaders were detained upon landing of their flight.

Roads leading to Jantar Mantar were heavily barricaded, All India Students’ Association president Neha Bora, activist Yogendra Yadav, and advocate Prashant Bhushan gave a call for protesters to gather at Dilli Haat. With around 100 protesters in tow, protesters marched towards INA Market from Jor Bagh and announced that Dilli Haat will be their Jantar Mantar. It was difficult to mobilise people, however, within a short span of time. Protestors, in large numbers, had gathered at AIIMS Flyover. Within few minutes of the march, the protestors were detained.

Gurugram: Youtuber Dhruv Rathee was detained at his residence at Sector 56, when he tried to leave for Jantar Mantar.
Gurugram: Youtuber Dhruv Rathee was detained at his residence at Sector 56, when he tried to leave for Jantar Mantar in Delhi to join the CJP’s protest to seek electoral reforms. Besides Rathee, at least 150-170 people from southern Gurugram districts were detained as a preventive measure, police said. Noida: Farmer unions had announced their support to the CJP’s protest and when they tried to march to the Capital on Saturday, were restricted by the UP Police at the border and were detained.
