THANE: The administration of CSMM Hospital in Thane on Tuesday launched an inquiry after a patient was allegedly served a bowl of dal containing a dead cockroach.Swapnali Kadam, dean of CSMM Hospital, said the administration had taken cognisance of media reports about the incident and initiated a probe, the report of which is awaited. “Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure, we have started pest control and sanitisation of our kitchen area,” said Kadam.The incident allegedly took place on Aug 28, when an elderly woman from Airoli was served dinner containing the alleged insect. “Fellow patients clicked photographs, which went viral,” said MNS activist Swapnil Mahindrakar, adding he had written to the municipal commissioner and FDA, seeking an inspection of the hospital kitchen and its food-handling practices.
