Prayagraj: A writ petition relating to the Lord Sri Agreshwar Mahadev Nagnatheswar Virajman Tejo Mahalaya Temple and the Taj Mahal in Agra has been filed before the Allahabad high court. The matter is scheduled to come up for hearing on Monday.The petition challenges the orders of the Agra district court, where both the civil judge (senior division) and the additional district judge declined to appoint an advocate commissioner to conduct a survey of the disputed premises.According to Saumya Srivastava, counsel for the petitioners, a declaratory suit was filed in 2015 and is pending before the Civil Judge (Senior Division), Agra, seeking a declaration that the premises of the Taj Mahal contain the Lord Sri Agreshwar Mahadev Nagnatheswar Virajman Tejo Mahalaya Temple.During the pendency of the suit, an application was moved seeking the appointment of an advocate commissioner to survey the disputed site. However, both the district courts rejected the plea, prompting the petitioners to approach the high court.The petition has been filed by Lord Sri Agreshwar Mahadev Nagnatheswar Virajman Tejo Mahalaya Temple, along with Hari Shankar Jain and four others. The Union of India, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and two others have been arrayed as respondents.
