However, they flagged the shortage of surgeons, doctors, paramedical and other support staff, and medical equipment like MRI, CT scan, ultrasound machine facilities.Health minister Damodar Rajanarasimha listed out the appointments going to be made, equipment that would be purchased and steps being taken to improve the services in the hospitals coming under the purview of the directorate of secondary health care.“The recruitment process for 2,075 posts is currently underway, comprising 1,616 specialist doctors, 332 nurses, 42 dental surgeons, and 85 pharmacists to strengthen the healthcare sector. Out of a total of 109 trauma centers, 74 are set to be established under the purview of the directorate of secondary health care (DSH Care). The minister informed the House that the TVVP currently comprises 184 hospitals, collectively housing a total of 12,720 beds. Across these 184 hospitals, an annual average of approximately 1.2 crore people receive outpatient services, 12 lakh people receive inpatient services, 50,000 people undergo various surgeries, and over one lakh deliveries are conducted.Because the TVVP currently functions as a grant-in-aid institution, it faces certain administrative constraints, delays in the payment of employee salaries, and some deficiencies in the delivery of services to patients. To resolve these issues and to fulfil a long-standing demand of the employees, he announced that the TVVP was being converted into DSHC.
