Hyderabad: A Telangana student secured a perfect 100 NTA score in the first session of JEE Main 2026, results of which were declared on Monday. Across the country, 12 students, including two from Andhra Pradesh, scored 100.Vivan Sharad Mahiswari, a student of Narayana Educational Institutions, emerged as the state topper.“I didn’t think much while writing the exam. I knew it went well. But after analysing my answer script, I realised I had a chance of scoring 100,” Vivan told TOI.The 17-year-old said his teachers helped him overcome gaps in preparation. “I studied in a CBSE school and didn’t have early exposure to JEE like many others. My mentors supported me with extra effort, which helped me achieve this score,” he said, adding that his next goal is to repeat the performance in JEE Advanced.Educationalists said the fact that only one student from Telangana scored 100 did not indicate a decline in performance. “The state has actually improved, with more students scoring above 280 and 290,” said P Sindhura Narayana, director, Narayana Educational Institutions. She added that their institute produced five state toppers across AP, Telangana, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa.Final ranks will be released after the second session, based on the best of the two NTA scores.
