Hyderabad: In a major relief to commuters ahead of the summer season, Telangana Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) announced a reduction in ticket fares for e-Metro AC and Metro Deluxe buses operating within Hyderabad. The revised fares came into effect from Sunday.Officials stated that the fare cut applies exclusively to e-Metro AC and Metro Deluxe AC buses. No other categories of city or intercity services are covered under the revised tariff structure. As part of the revision, the fare for Metro Deluxe AC buses has been reduced from Rs 30 to Rs 25 for every four kilometres, translating to a Rs 5 decrease per slab. In the e-Metro AC segment, the reduction is steeper, with fares cut from Rs 35 to Rs 25 for every four kilometres — a Rs 10 drop per slab. The move comes at a time when rising temperatures have led to increased preference for air-conditioned travel. However, relatively higher fares had kept average occupancy in AC services at around 60%. With the revised pricing, the corporation aims to improve ridership in these two categories while offering commuters a more affordable travel option during the peak summer months.
