Congress and the BJP are battling it out from Uttarakhand to Delhi over an incident in which some people purportedly purified a stage used by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in Haldwani. Now, Congress is alleging a similar incident in Telangana, this time involving BRS workers.

Last Monday, BRS legislators tried to enter the Assembly session wearing black T-shirts to protest against 1,000 days of the Congress government in the state. When state police tried to stop them, a scuffle broke out. Congress leaders accused BRS MLA Tata Madhu of making filthy and derogatory remarks against Speaker G Prasad Kumar. Kumar belongs to the Dalit community, and Congress leaders strongly objected to the remarks.

The next day, Congress workers took out a march to former CM and BRS leader KCR’s farmhouse to protest the remarks made by Madhu.
On Wednesday, some BRS workers sprinkled turmeric water on the road near the farmhouse, which Congress called a purification exercise by the BRS and accused the party of having an anti-Dalit mindset.
