Hyderabad: In a major breakthrough, Telangana police’s special teams have succeeded in nabbing members of both Nepali gangs, involved in the robbery-cum-murder of the former IPS officer’s wife at Jubilee Hills and the dacoity at Kawkoor, in Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh respectively. The teams were completing formalities to get them to the city on prisoner on transit (PT) warrants.Senior police officials confirmed that the special teams succeeded in nabbing members of both gangs. “Our teams are now in the process of eliciting basic information from the accused and producing them before local courts to obtain transit warrants,” a senior officer said.The Malkajgiri police’s special teams, which came to know about the robbery at the senior citizen’s house in Kawkoor on Tuesday evening, managed to track down the majority of the seven suspects and apprehend them on the border in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday as they were trying to cross over to Nepal.After tying up and drugging the elderly couple, N Murali Mohan and his wife Dr K Vijaya Lakshmi, at their bungalow in Kowkoor on Monday night, the accused — Rajesh, Sabina, Mamatha and four others— stole 60 tolas gold jewellery, 15 kg silver, two mobile phones and $3,000. They fled from the area in an autorickshaw.Meanwhile, the special teams of Hyderabad police camping at different places in the country, also managed to apprehend two of the accused involved in the gruesome murder of retired IPS officer Vinay Ranjan Ray’s wife, Tanuja Ranjan, at their bungalow in Prashasan Nagar on May 8. The two, including a gang member and a stolen property receiver, were caught in Mumbai.After committing the murder, the accused, Kalpana and her three male associates, stole 22.5 tolas gold and some cash from the house. They too got into an autorickshaw at Jubilee Hills and fled from the city by boarding Telangana Express at the Nampally railway station.
