Hyderabad: Revenue and housing minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Sunday said Indiramma housing scheme for low-income groups (LIG) in the core urban region economy (CURE) area will be launched at the secretariat on Monday.The Congress govt would construct a lakh LIG flats in multi-storey buildings of up to 10 floors each. Ministers in charge of Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts, Ponnam Prabhakar and D Sridhar Babu, along with minorities welfare minister Mohammed Azharuddin would release the application process, eligibility criteria, and the scheme brochure at the secretariat on Monday.Govt has identified prime land parcels within the city for housing the poor, acquiring sites ranging from one to five acre in these areas. Unlike the previous govt, the housing projects are being undertaken close to the areas where the poor currently reside, rather than on the outskirts of the city, the minister said.He appealed to the people to apply within their respective constituencies, as each constituency was being treated as a distinct unit for the scheme’s implementation. Govt would launch construction of 3.50 lakh houses — 2.50 lakh in rural areas and a lakh in urban areas — this fiscal.The cabinet had approved in May the construction of a lakh LIG houses in the CURE area. About 12,000 houses would be constructed on a pilot basis in each of the select constituencies in the CURE area.At a separate review meeting, minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy directed officials to ensure that the renovation works at the Bhadrachalam Sitaramachandra Swamy Devasthanam were completed by the time of the upcoming Godavari Pushkaralu.The temple complex must be ready at least 15 days before the Pushkaralu. On Sunday, he inspected the ongoing development works on-site and held a review meeting with endowments and engineering officials at the sub-collector’s office.In yet another review meeting, the minister directed officials to complete land re-survey in Bhadradri Kothagudem district transparently, in accordance with regulations. Discussing the progress of the land re-survey, issues regarding forest and revenue land parcels, the podu issue, and the development of Srinivasagutta in Palvancha, he emphasised that survey operations in the district must accelerate and that there should be no delays.
