Hyderabad: Labour minister G Vivek Venkataswamy said the state govt would introduce the gig workers bill in the ongoing assembly session. Responding to a question raised by Mahbubnagar MLA Yennam Srinivas Reddy in the assembly on Monday, Vivek said the state govt has decided to introduce the bill to protect the rights of gig workers and their welfare.The proposed Gig Workers Bill will be discussed in a cabinet meeting and subsequently introduced in the assembly, the minister said. MLAs Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao, Birla Ilaiah and others also raised additional concerns and suggestions.The minister further stated that once the bill is passed in the assembly, a dedicated board would be constituted for gig workers. This board would oversee the grievance redressal mechanism and ensure protection, fairness and social security for gig workers across the state.
