HYDERABAD: Jammikunta police in Telangana’s Karimnagar district have solved the murder of a 51-year-old tenant farmer, arresting a 40-year-old farmer from a neighbouring village who allegedly planned the killing after watching YouTube videos on “how to commit a murder”, “how to escape from police” and “how to make weapons”.The accused, a resident of Madipally village in Jammikunta mandal, was arrested on June 29 in connection with the murder of P Mogili, 51, a tenant farmer from neighbouring Ankushapur village.According to police, at around 11.30 pm on June 27, the accused lay in wait in agricultural fields along a road on the outskirts of Madipally village before attacking Mogili, who was riding home on a bicycle, with an iron rod.“Mogili sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot,” Jammikunta Inspector S Ramakrishna said.Following the murder, Mogili’s wife, Sharada, told police that the accused bore a grudge against her husband over his alleged misconduct with a woman from Ankushapur village and suspected him of carrying out the killing.Investigators tracked the suspect through mobile phone location data before taking him into custody on Monday. During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to the murder.According to police, Mogili had been arrested a few months earlier in an attempted rape case involving the same woman. Investigators said the accused’s wife later left him after allegedly developing a relationship with the woman. After his release from jail, Mogili allegedly continued to harass her.“The accused was enraged and hatched a plan to eliminate Mogili. He waited near the village road on the night of June 27 and fatally attacked him with an iron rod as he passed by on a bicycle. Before committing the murder, he searched YouTube for videos on how to commit a murder, how to evade police and how to make weapons,” Inspector Ramakrishna said. The accused was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
