Telangana CEO Warns Voters Against Fake ECI Messages

Hyderabad: Telangana chief electoral officer (CEO), C Sudarshan Reddy, has warned voters against fraudulent messages falsely claiming discrepancies between their election card details and enumeration forms. The messages, sent in the name of the Election Commission of India (ECI), claim that enumeration forms have been rejected and ask electors to call a number or click on a WhatsApp link to fill out a form and pay ₹5 through net banking or a credit/debit card. Fraudsters then seek sensitive banking details, including login credentials, passwords, CVV numbers and ATM PINs.The CEO’s office clarified that neither the ECI nor the Telangana CEO sends such messages and urged electors not to respond or share any personal or banking information.Electors receiving such messages or calls have been advised to report them to the nearest police station.
