A tragic incident unfolded when 16-year-old Kajal Kumari was found lifeless in her rental room in Harnaut, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. Authorities discovered a country-made firearm at the scene, prompting a thorough investigation. The police have cordoned off the area and the body has been sent for an autopsy, following reports of a gunshot that alarmed local residents.

Biharsharif: A 16-year-old girl was found dead with a gunshot wound to her head inside a rented room at Harnaut in Nalanda district on Friday morning.The deceased was identified as Kajal Kumari, daughter of Vashishtha Narayan, a resident of Laxmanpur village under the Bakhtiyarpur police station area. Kajal had been living in a rented house near the nurse block on Dak Bungalow Road in Harnaut while pursuing her studies. Her father works as a loco pilot and is currently in Gujarat along with other family members.According to police, Kajal had been staying in the house of Vidyabhushan Sharma for the past two years along with her mother and siblings.At around 10am on Friday, residents heard a loud gunshot. Alarmed by the sound, the elderly landlord couple rushed to the room and found the door open. Kajal was lying lifeless on a chair with a severe head injury caused by a bullet.In a puzzling development, a country-made pistol was found placed on a bench barely three feet away from the body, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding the death.Soon after receiving the information, local police and Sadar DSP-2 Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal reached the spot and secured the area.He said a forensic team collected evidence from the scene and the body has been sent to Biharsharif Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination.
