Reasi, Aug 12 : A 17-year-old boy was swept away by strong water currents while attempting to cross a nallah in the Malikote area of Chassana in Reasi district on Wednesday, officials said.
An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the incident occurred when the boy was crossing the Ommi Nallah near Sanglikote, where he slipped and was swept away by the heavy flow of water.
He said police, along with local residents, soon launched a search operation to trace the boy. The boy was later identified as Nawaz Ahmad (17), son of Mohammad Sharif, a resident of Malikote.
Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.—(KNO)
