Noida: A 16-year-old boy allegedly hacked his father to death with an axe while he slept early on Wednesday, remained beside his body for more than four hours and later died by suicide by jumping in front of a metro train at Sector 52 station. Police suspect the teenager, who had been living in isolation under his father’s strict restrictions, was overwhelmed by “severe depression”.Police found the boy’s blood-stained T-shirt and shorts, an axe and two framed photographs of his father beside the body of Raju Sharma at their rented room in Garhi Chaukhandi.Raju, a tutor from Bokaro, had lived in Noida since 2005. He had been separated from his wife, Ruby, since 2014 and was living with his son in the rented accommodation. The two had shifted there around three months ago.Neighbours said Raju was strict and rarely allowed his son outside. He would lock the house while leaving for tuition classes. The boy was also not attending regular school, leaving him increasingly isolated.Around 7.15am on Wednesday, the teenager jumped before a metro train. Police found two phones and house keys in his bag. With Raju’s phone also with him, relatives could not contact his father.On Thursday, the boy’s uncle, Arun, began searching for Raju. Late that night, police traced a locked house near Tikona Park after residents complained about foul smell. Using the keys recovered from the teenager, they opened the door and found Raju’s blood-soaked body on the bed.Blood splatters were visible on the wall. An axe and the teenager’s blood-stained clothes lay on the floor, while two photographs of Raju had been placed beside his body.ADCP (central) Swatantra Kumar Singh said a murder case had been registered against the teenager on his uncle’s complaint. “We are collecting all evidence and establishing the sequence of events in the case. Further investigation is underway,” he added.
