Production on season four of Ted Lasso is officially underway, with filming beginning this week in Kansas City, Missouri. Apple TV+ confirmed the return of key cast members alongside several new additions, as the Emmy-winning comedy enters a new chapter with a major shift in setting and story.
Jason Sudeikis returns as the titular character, now coaching a second division women’s football team in Richmond. While season three ended with Ted leaving AFC Richmond to return home to the U.S., the upcoming season will see him back in England, with the show also resuming production in London after initial filming stateside.
Confirmed returning cast include Hannah Waddingham as club owner Rebecca Welton, Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent, Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins, Juno Temple as Keeley Jones, and Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard. Hunt, who co-created the series with Sudeikis, also serves as executive producer and writer.
Joining the ensemble are Tanya Reynolds (Sex Education), Faye Marsay (Andor), Jude Mack, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern (My Lady Jane, Enola Holmes 2), and Grant Feely, who takes over the role of Ted’s son, Henry, previously played by Gus Turner. The roles of the new cast members remain under wraps.
Developed by Sudeikis, Hunt, Bill Lawrence, and Joe Kelly, Ted Lasso began as a promotional character for NBC Sports’ Premier League coverage before evolving into a cultural phenomenon. The series has won multiple Emmys, including Outstanding Comedy Series, and has been praised for its heart, humor, and optimism.
Season four promises new beginnings, with the official logline stating, “Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.” A release date for the new season has not yet been announced.
