Pune: A 23-year-old techie, working in a prominent IT company in Kharadi, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her room around 1.30pm on Friday after she argued with her boyfriend, a resident of Paharganj in Delhi.Kharadi police on Saturday registered a case of abetment to suicide against him after the deceased woman’s father, a resident of Patna in Bihar, lodged a complaint.Senior inspector Sanjay Chavan of Kharadi police told TOI, “The woman was staying in a studio apartment in Kharadi for the past two months. Her boyfriend is from Paharganj and works as a software engineer with a company based in Kharadi. After studying the circumstances, we can confirm that it is a case of suicide,” he said.The deceased and her boyfriend grew up together and attended school in Patna. Both secured admission to different engineering colleges and, after completing their studies, they started working. Both initially moved to Delhi, but the woman later shifted to Pune after securing a job as a software engineer with a multinational bank, Chavan said.“Her boyfriend came to Pune on Aug 20, and both were staying in the studio apartment. Though there is no suicide note, an examination of her phone records revealed that she had an argument with him over the amount of time she devoted to him. He claimed that she was not giving him enough time and was neglecting him,” he said.Chavan said that after the argument on Friday, he left the apartment and went downstairs while she remained alone inside, where she hanged herself from the ceiling fan. “Her boyfriend returned and alerted the neighbours and the police when he found her,” he added.
