Pune: Cybercrooks duped a 46-year-old teacher from Vishrantwadi of Rs 4.50 lakh under the pretext of supplying steel to her for the construction of her house in Dec last year.The woman filed an online complaint. After the preliminary investigations, a case was registered with the Vishrantwadi police on Thursday.An officer from the Vishrantwadi police said the complainant, looking to buy steel for her new house, found a Jalna-based supplier online and contacted the number listed. “Lured by low rates, she was asked to pay in advance and did so. The next day, the caller urged her to expand the order for bulk delivery and kept citing excuses to delay the supply,” the officer said.The officer said that the woman became suspicious and got the number of the steel company. The officials told her that the company did not have any online facility. “The woman realised that she was duped and approached the police,” the officer said.
