Patna: Teaching job aspirants continued their protest in Patna on Wednesday despite the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) announcing the TRE-4 schedule, saying their key demands remain unresolved. The BPSC released the schedule on Tuesday, hours after protesters at Gardanibagh warned they would gherao the education minister if the examination programme was not announced within 24 hours. The recruitment drive is expected to fill more than 32,000 teaching vacancies across Bihar.Student leader Dileep Kumar said, “The notification failed to address our core concerns, including the demand for a single-tier examination system for TRE-4, librarian and sub-inspector recruitment tests.”The protesters are also seeking action against candidates who allegedly secured govt jobs through unfair means and greater transparency in recruitments conducted by the Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC).Kumar said the agitation would continue despite the release of the schedule. He added that protesters would meet on Thursday to decide whether to launch an indefinite hunger strike.Meanwhile, a separate group of guest teacher from universities across Bihar and PhD holders has been camping near the protest site for more than two weeks. One of the protesters, Kumud Patel, has been on an indefinite hunger strike for the past 16 days.Vibha Rani, a guest teacher at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur, said the demonstrators would not leave the site until their demands were met.The group is demanding implementation of UGC Regulations 2018 in assistant professor appointments, enhancement of the upper age limit to 55 years, regularisation of appointments and the introduction of a domicile policy, among other measures. The protesters have also sought the resignation of higher education minister Sanjay Singh Tiger and additional chief secretary Dipak Kumar Singh, who recently held talks with them in an effort to break the deadlock.
