Hyderabad: TDP MP Putta Mahesh Kumar reportedly left his assigned gunmen behind at his residence before heading to BRS ex-MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy’s farmhouse on Saturday, where EAGLE sleuths busted a drug party later in the night. Six persons, including Mahesh Kumar and Rohith Reddy, tested positive for drug abuse, Moinabad police said.As per protocol, if a protectee chooses to travel without assigned gunmen, the concerned district police, which deploys the security personnel, must be informed. In Rohith Reddy’s case, he has no gunmen assigned as he is an ex-MLA.Sources said the process will be initiated to cancel the weapon licence issued to Ritesh Reddy, Rohith Reddy’s brother, after it was allegedly misused. Police are also verifying whether Rohith Reddy, who is now charged with different sections including violation of the Arms Act and NDPS Act, himself holds any active gun licence. In this case, three accused — Rohith Reddy, Ritesh Reddy, and Namith Sharma — were remanded to judicial custody and lodged at Chanchalguda central jail at around midnight. It is learnt that the three accused were segregated and will be housed in the Krishna barracks with white-collar offenders. Like other prisoners, they underwent narcotics de-addiction screening.Meanwhile, the investigators who are probing the case found that Kaushik Ravi, who allegedly supplied cocaine to the other five drug abusers in the case, paid Rs 15,000 per gram to a contact in Shimla.Police found that, based on the material recovered, four rounds of bullets were fired inside the farmhouse by Sharma after he came to know that an outsider had forcibly entered the premises. “There were CCTVs outside the farmhouse and naturally no camera was installed inside the farmhouse,” EAGLE officials said.Though the EAGLE team handed over the case to Moinabad police, they are expected to gather the details of persons with whom the drug abusers are in touch.
