The southern regional party, a key NDA ally, has finalised the names of Babu, educationist and industrialist Bhashyam Ramakrishna and Andhra Pradesh Speaker Chinthakayala Ayyana Patrudu’s son Vijay Chinthakayala. ET was the first to report the names in its May 27 edition.
NDA had swept the 2024 assembly elections with TDP winning 135, Jana Sena 21 and BJP 8 seats. With this majority, NDA will corner 4 seats which have got vacant in Rajya Sabha. Of the retiring members, three were from YSRCP (Parimal Nathwani, Ayodhya Rami Reddy and Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose) and one from TDP (Babu). One seat has gone to Jana Sena within the alliance. This will mark the debut of Pawan Kalyan-led regional outfit in the Upper House.
The last date for filing nominations is June 8 and the elections to 24 Rajya Sabha seats across 10 states is slated for June 18.
