Jamshedpur: To manage the Durga Puja passenger rush, the Chakradharpur railway division is creating a temporary holding area at Tatanagar railway station to regulate commuter movement and prevent overcrowding.The facility is being developed in the portico and parking lot near the main entrance. Passengers waiting to board trains will get seating and will be sent to platforms in orderly queues after ticket checks.The move is aimed at smooth movement from the station entrance to platforms and at preventing congestion during the festive surge.Railway officials said the holding area will have chairs, ceiling fans, drinking water and urinal facilities. The Railway Protection Force, Government Railway Police and railway commercial staff will coordinate to ensure passengers board reserved and unreserved coaches in a disciplined manner.Passengers with valid tickets will be allowed onto platforms 30 minutes before the scheduled arrival of their trains.Chakradharpur divisional railway manager Tarun Huria has directed Tatanagar officials to make regular announcements on train arrivals and departures. Additional loudspeakers will be installed so passengers in the holding area can hear updates. The facility is expected to become operational by Oct 13.Meanwhile, South Eastern Railway has announced three long-distance special train services through Tatanagar for the season.The Tatanagar-Buxar-Tatanagar special will run every Tuesday from Oct 13 to Nov 24. The Itwari-Shalimar Puja Special will run every Thursday from Oct 15 to 29, with the Shalimar-Itwari return service every Friday from Oct 16 to 30.The train will halt at Jharsuguda, Rourkela, Chakradharpur, Tatanagar, Kharagpur and Santragachi. The Sambalpur-Santragachi Puja Special will leave Sambalpur on Oct 14 and 21; return trips from Santragachi are scheduled on Oct 15 and 22. EOM
