CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu govt on Wednesday announced a new interest subsidy scheme for women self-help groups (SHGs). Under the scheme, women SHGs that repay loans on time would receive an interest subsidy, benefiting loans to the tune of Rs 38,000 crore this year, said state finance minister N Marie Wilson while presenting the 2026-27 budget in the assembly.The minister said the govt has allocated Rs 5 lakh as the initial fund for implementing the scheme.
