COIMBATORE: A gang allegedly hurled petrol bombs at the house of a woman in Kalikkanaickenpalayam near Thondamuthur in Coimbatore after she rejected a man’s advances.According to sources, the woman, 21, is a second-year postgraduate student at a private college and lives in Kalikkanaickenpalayam. She had reportedly become friends with a man named Karthi, a resident of Chennai, through Instagram. Over time, Karthi is said to have developed feelings for her.However, the woman recently learnt that several criminal cases had been registered against him. After discovering his criminal background, she cut off all contact with him.Angered by her rejection, Karthi allegedly came to her house on Saturday evening along with a group of friends. In an apparent act of retaliation, the gang allegedly hurled petrol bombs at the front entrance of the house before fleeing on motorcycles.After receiving information about the incident, Thondamuthur Police rushed to the spot. A police team conducted a preliminary investigation at the scene, and a case was registered.
