CHENNAI: All private nursery, primary, matriculation, the central board of secondary education (CBSE) and other board schools in the state must display their approved tuition fee details on their notice boards on or before June 5, the directorate of private schools has ordered.The order comes a few days after the Tamil Nadu information commission had ordered that a school’s fee structure was public information and asked Tamil Nadu private schools’ director S Suganya to ensure compliance by June 15.With the directorate’s order, heads/principals shall display the tuition fee structure fixed by the fee determination committee for public viewing on notice boards, respective school websites. The schools must also print and provide class-wise tuition fee details in the student admission application forms.The director has instructed all district education officers (private schools) to inspect schools in their jurisdiction and ensure compliance and submit a report to the directorate on or before June 10, 2026.“Photo evidence along with acknowledgement of compliance will be obtained from schools and maintained in the office records to show proof of implementation. Every school must strictly oblige to this, failing which a government notice will be issued to them,” Suganya told TOI.The information commission, in its order on May 29, had sought a compliance report from the directorate by June 15.
