CHENNAI: DMK IT wing deputy general secretary and daughter of actor Sathyaraj, Dhivya Sathyaraj said TVK supporters threw slippers at her when she was campaigning in Chennai.“When I was campaigning in Nungambakkam for Thousand Lights MLA N Ezhilan on Monday evening, a group of TVK supporters who gathered there threw slippers at me. I was caught completely off-guard. They also verbally abused me with words that I haven’t heard in my entire life. Most of them who abused me were minors,” Dhivya Sathyaraj told ToI.
Recalling the incident, she said it was “horrific” and a first of its kind experience after she entered politics. “I didn’t use any harsh words against TVK president Vijay. I was campaigning about the achievements of DMK govt. Even when I campaigned in Perambur I didn’t receive such a treatment,” Dhivya said. She insisted Vijay to politicise her supporters and to respect women. “They are speaking ill about women. Even his wife Sangeetha is not spared. He should ask his supporters to stop abusing women,” Dhivya said.
