CHENNAI: ECI has allotted the ‘cooker’ symbol to AMMK, which will field candidates in 11 constituencies as part of the AIADMK-led NDA.Allocated according to provisions of the Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 1968, the symbol can be used only for the upcoming Assembly election.
It, however, said the ‘cooker’ would remain available as a free symbol for other candidates in constituencies where AMMK does not field nominees.TTVDhinakaranhadfirst received the ‘cooker’ symbol while contesting in the 2017 bypoll in R K Nagar constituency. He emerged victorious in the poll defeating both AIADMK and DMK candidates.Despite not being a recognised party, AMMK had been allotted the symbol for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
