Chennai: Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has reduced the number of his convoy vehicles from 10 to four as an austerity measure. Officials said the reduction came into effect for the governor’s official movements and visits to govt and private events in response to Prime Minister Modi’s appeal encouraging fuel conservation measures and greater use of public transport. Under the new arrangement, four police security vehicles were retained for the governor’s convoy, while the remaining vehicles were withdrawn from regular deployment.
